There is usually a show of contemporary sculpture on the roof, some more interesting than others. In the most interesting shows the sculpture interacts with the views across the park.

Walking along the embankment next to the East River we found cool breezes. We can see the bridge from the apartment. The center section is raised for tall ships or to prevent people walking across at night or in bad weather.

in the Vanderbilt Avenue lobby of he former Pan Am Building. This sculpture is three or four stories high: rays of sunshine framing the globe and holding it in place. It was one of those delicious New York surprises I love so much.

This is the George Nakashima table in the Japanese gallery. A Japanese woman, sitting in front of this butterfly joint motioned she wanted to cut the joint and pull the pieces together.

near Times Square. The tall building in the center is the new New York Times building. The funny shaped thing in front is part of the Westin Hotel.
